Jamey Lee Becker, Enticing a Minor, Missouri 2016

A shocking case of enticement has come to light in Missouri, where a former church youth leader has been sentenced for attempting to lure a minor into illicit sex.

Jamey Lee Becker, 46, of Iberia, Mo., was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison without parole by U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes on February 1, 2017.

Becker, who pleaded guilty on January 4, 2017, admitted to using the Internet and a cell phone to attempt to entice an individual under the age of 17 to engage in illegal sexual activity between February 1 and June 10, 2016.

This disturbing case was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Miller County, Mo., Sheriff’s Department.

The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael S. Oliver.

Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, brought this case to justice.

The mission of Project Safe Childhood is to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

Becker’s actions are a stark reminder of the dangers that exist online and the importance of protecting our children from exploitation.
