Manhattan Bank Robberies: ‘Broadway Bandit’ Guilty

Grimy Times has learned that a notorious bank robber, known as the ‘Broadway Bandit,’ has been found guilty of five robberies in connection with a 2017 robbery spree in Manhattan.

Jamie Frierson, 47, of New York, New York, was convicted of three counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery after a three-day trial before U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres.

According to the allegations, Frierson went on a brazen one-man crime spree, attempting to rob five Manhattan banks in broad daylight in less than two weeks. He threatened the lives of bank tellers to get away with thousands of dollars in cash, endangering the safety of New Yorkers and traumatizing bank employees.

Frierson was convicted of robbing a bank in midtown Manhattan on August 16, 2017, where he stole approximately $1,500 in cash. He was also convicted of robbing a bank on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on August 24, 2017, where he stole approximately $2,000 in cash.

Additionally, Frierson was convicted of robbing a bank in Harlem on August 29, 2017, where he stole over $8,000 in cash.

Frierson is facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on each count, and is scheduled to be sentenced on December 10, 2018, before Judge Torres.

U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman praised the outstanding investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New York City Police Department in bringing Frierson to justice.

Frierson is currently facing three counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery, with a maximum potential sentence of 20 years in prison on each count.
