Fresno resident Jasmeet Singh, 30, an Indian national, has been accused of sending multiple threats to a victim living in Canada, according to a federal indictment unsealed in Sacramento, California.
According to court documents, on May 27, 2024, Singh sent multiple threats to a victim living in Canada, threatening to kill the victim because of that victim’s prior cooperation with Indian law enforcement. Singh allegedly sent the victim a picture of the victim’s car in front of the victim’s residence, told the victim he knew the victim’s daily habits, including the type of coffee the victim drank, and that the victim could not run because Singh and his associates would kill him/her.
Singh is currently detained in federal custody while awaiting trial for transmitting threats to injure another person, a charge that carries a maximum statutory penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Assistant United States Attorney Adrian T. Kinsella is prosecuting the case.
This case was the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Langley Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, with assistance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations.
The charges are only allegations; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
Singh is charged with transmitting threats to injure another person and is currently detained in federal custody while awaiting trial.
