Jason Glanton, Possessing Bulk Amounts of Fentanyl within Elementary School Zone, Ohio 2023

A Vandalia man has pleaded guilty to possessing drugs in a school zone, according to a federal indictment.

Jason Glanton, 34, of Vandalia, Ohio, possessed with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of Helke Elementary School on Randler Avenue in Vandalia, Ohio.

Glanton faces a prison sentence of five to 80 years for the crime, which took place in the fall of 2022. He was arrested in March 2023 and had more than $1,700 in cash on him and nearly 75 grams of fentanyl in his Chrysler 300.

When Glanton was arrested, officers discovered a loaded handgun in a hidden compartment inside his vehicle. Additionally, officials discovered $10,000 in cash in the trunk of his Chevrolet Silverado and a loaded handgun in the vehicle.

In a search of Glanton’s home on Pool Avenue, investigators found more than 136 grams of fentanyl, $9,000 in cash, five semiautomatic handguns, and over 300 rounds of ammunition in a basement office.

Glanton’s case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle high-level drug traffickers and gangs.

The investigation was led by the FBI, Dayton Police Department, and the DEA. Glanton’s sentencing will be determined by the court at a future hearing based on advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.
