Enrique Steven Abarca, Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, Nebraska 2022

A Lincoln man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for his role in a large-scale methamphetamine distribution operation in the Lincoln area.

Enrique Steven Abarca, 26, was found guilty by a federal jury in December 2021 for his involvement in the distribution of over 10 kilograms (11 pounds) of methamphetamine mixture between May and August 2019.

Abarca was held responsible for his role in the conspiracy, which also included two prior serious drug felonies. He was previously convicted of delivery of methamphetamine in Platte County, Nebraska in 2016 and conspiracy to deliver cocaine in Dodge County, Nebraska in 2017.

As a result of these two prior convictions, Abarca faced a statutory minimum sentence of 25 years. However, he was ultimately sentenced to 27 years by United States District Judge John M. Gerrard.

Following his release from prison, Abarca will serve 10 years on supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force with assistance from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.

Abarca’s sentence is a significant blow to the community, which has struggled with the effects of methamphetamine distribution. The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to hold individuals accountable for their roles in these crimes.
