Jason Lawrence Green, Heroin Distribution, Salisbury MD, 2021

SALISBURY, MD – Jason Lawrence Green, 40, of Salisbury, Maryland, has confessed to building a nationwide heroin distribution network hidden within the dark web. The feds say Green, operating under the aliases “CaliClaire” and “clairebear2,” peddled the deadly opioid through encrypted channels and the U.S. Postal Service for over a year.

The operation, which ran from at least 2018 through October 2019, initially thrived on the now-defunct Dream Market, a digital black market for illicit goods. After Dream Market went dark in April 2019, Green didn’t skip a beat. He simply shifted to direct sales via encrypted email, continuing to ship heroin to buyers across the country. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, along with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Maryland State Police, and Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, brought the case to light.

Undercover investigators got their first taste of “CaliClaire’s” product in June and August of 2018, purchasing one gram of heroin for approximately $200 in bitcoin. The buys weren’t subtle. Law enforcement tailed Jason Lawrence Green as he dropped packages at post offices in Ocean City and Salisbury. A quick search of the mailboxes revealed the heroin, neatly packaged and destined for undercover addresses. They even recovered additional parcels containing 3.5 and 4.5 grams of the powder, further cementing the scale of the operation.

Interestingly, Green’s activity on Dream Market mirrored his own legal troubles. When he was arrested on unrelated state charges in late 2018, “CaliClaire” went silent. Released on electronic monitoring in December, the vendor promptly announced a “break” due to fluctuating bitcoin values, followed by a promise of renewed heroin sales just in time for the holidays. A calculated move by a man clearly prioritizing profit over people.

Even after Dream Market’s collapse, Green adapted. In June and September 2019, investigators intercepted USPS packages bound for Virginia and Oregon, containing heroin and linked back to former “CaliClaire” customers. These customers confirmed Green had resumed sales directly through encrypted email, solidifying the link between the online personas and the Salisbury resident. Further undercover buys through “clairebear2” in September and October 2019 sealed his fate.

Jason Lawrence Green pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin on October 12, 2021. Sentencing details have not yet been released, but the feds are likely seeking a substantial prison term for this digital drug kingpin. This case underscores the growing challenge of law enforcement tracking and dismantling criminal enterprises that exploit the anonymity of the dark web to poison our communities.
