Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Lands Rosebud Man in Hot Water

A federal grand jury has indicted a 35-year-old Rosebud man for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

According to the indictment, Jason Riley, 35, was charged for the crime after a thorough investigation.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 10 years’ in custody, 3 years’ of supervised release; and a $100 Special Assessment. Restitution may also be ordered.

Riley appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on April 24, 2013 and pled not guilty to the indictment.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy M. Maher, and the investigation is being conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.

Riley was released to a third party custodian pending trial. A trial date has not been set.

The charge is merely an accusation and Riley is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
