Jason Roon, 34, is heading to federal prison for 11 years after a Las Vegas raid busted his meth and fentanyl operation. Back in October 2022, Las Vegas Metro Police, working with the DEA and FBI, hit Roon’s home and found a serious stash – over 600 grams of meth – along with evidence he was dealing. But the drugs weren’t the half of it.
Cops also seized five handguns, including a privately assembled “ghost gun” 9mm with no serial number, plus two AR-15 rifles and a mountain of ammunition. Roon, a repeat offender with a criminal history stretching back to California, was already on law enforcement’s radar. Prior convictions in Los Angeles and Ventura County included drug offenses and receiving stolen property.
Federal prosecutors initially pushed for a 151-month sentence, arguing the scope of the drug conspiracy – distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine – warranted a harsher penalty. U.S. District Judge Richard Boulware landed on 132 months (11 years) followed by five years of supervised release.
The case was spearheaded by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah. The bust is the latest example of the ongoing effort to flood the streets of Las Vegas with drugs and illegal firearms. Roon’s days of slinging are officially over, at least for the next decade.
