BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a shocking turn of events, Jason Talley, a 46-year-old Buffalo man, has been charged with his role in a Jamestown drug conspiracy. According to federal officials, Talley conspired with several others to sell heroin and fentanyl in the Jamestown area, a charge that carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joshua A. Violanti and Louis A. Testani are handling the case, which is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to combat the sale of illegal narcotics. The investigation was led by the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Timothy Jackson, the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III, New York Field Division, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff James Quattrone.
Talley was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and detained. The indictment alleges that Talley, along with co-defendants Andres Pizzaro Campos, Joseph Thayer, Max Pizzaro Campos, Cindy Frank, Edward Leeper, and Jaquez L. Thomas, conspired to sell heroin and fentanyl in the Jamestown area between 2018 and May 26, 2022. Joseph Zaso was previously charged and convicted and is awaiting sentencing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of narcotics trafficking and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat it.
