New Orleans, Louisiana – Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that JAZMIN MCKINNIE, age 32, of California, has pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Sex Trafficking of a Minor in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 371.
According to court documents, McKinnie is accused of bringing a fifteen-year-old girl from Houston, Texas, to New Orleans in May 2024 for commercial sex. McKinnie is said to have posted advertisements for the minor on online classified ad service websites.
In her guilty plea, McKinnie faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment, up to three years of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00. Sentencing is scheduled for January 8, 2026.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. McKinnie was arrested as a result of collaborative efforts between Homeland Security Investigations and the Kenner Police Department.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended these agencies for their role in the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni is handling the prosecution.
Jazmin McKinnie’s conviction underscores the ongoing battle against sex trafficking and the commitment of federal law enforcement to protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.
