Jeffrey Curtis Drexler, 27, of Northampton County, Pennsylvania, is back behind bars — this time on federal charges of possessing child pornography. The indictment unsealed today marks the latest chapter in a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior, according to federal prosecutors.
Drexler faces one count of Possession of Child Pornography, a charge that carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of 20 years behind bars. If convicted, he could also be fined up to $250,000, slapped with a $100 special assessment, and subjected to supervised release for anywhere between 5 years and the rest of his life.
The case hits harder given Drexler’s criminal past. He was previously convicted in Northampton County Court of Common Pleas on charges of Sexual Abuse of Children — a conviction that legally required him to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law. At the time of the alleged federal offenses, he was still under that registration requirement.
Homeland Security Investigations led the probe, tracking digital footprints that allegedly linked Drexler to illicit material involving children. The investigation culminated in the indictment filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella is handling the prosecution. Federal authorities are emphasizing that while the indictment is a serious legal step, Drexler is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Still, the weight of the evidence and his prior conviction cast a long shadow over the case.
The case underscores the federal government’s continued crackdown on the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. For now, Jeffrey Curtis Drexler remains in custody as the wheels of justice begin to turn — again.
