Jeffry Robtoy, 49, of St. Albans, Vermont, is headed to federal prison after admitting to selling heroin and cocaine base from his North Elm Street home. A federal court in Rutland sentenced Robtoy yesterday to 42 months behind bars, slamming him for turning his residence into a hub for hard drugs in Franklin County.
Robtoy pleaded guilty to distribution of heroin and cocaine base, charges stemming from a string of criminal acts uncovered during a police eviction and arrest warrant execution on November 2, 2017. On that day, law enforcement entered his home expecting to apprehend him—only to find co-defendant Andre Hudson of Connecticut holed up in a back bedroom.
Inside Robtoy’s bedroom, authorities uncovered large knives and drug paraphernalia—clear signs of trafficking. But the real shock came in the room where Hudson was found: over 7 grams of a mixture containing fentanyl, one of the deadliest opioids on the streets, and more than 14 grams of crack cocaine, neatly packaged and ready to move.
Hudson has since pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine base. He awaits sentencing and could face years of his own behind bars. The two men’s fates are now inextricably linked by a drug operation that fed addiction and danger into northern Vermont neighborhoods.
Chief U.S. District Judge Geoffrey W. Crawford handed down the 42-month sentence and tacked on a mandatory three-year term of supervised release. Robtoy will reenter society under federal watch, barred from stepping back into the shadows where drug deals thrive.
The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nicole Cate and Jonathan Ophardt. Robtoy was represented by Michelle Anderson Barth, Esq. U.S. Attorney Christina E. Nolan praised the DEA and St. Albans Police Department for their relentless work in dismantling Robtoy’s drug operation—one small but potent blow in Vermont’s ongoing battle against the opioid epidemic.
