WHITE PLAINS, NY – In a major blow to narcotics trafficking in Rockland County, 11 defendants were taken into federal custody today, charged with trafficking in cocaine and crack cocaine in and around Rockland County, New York.
The defendants, including Jemel Goode, were charged with conspiracy to sell cocaine and crack cocaine in White Plains federal court. According to the indictment, the defendants were part of a narcotics distribution network that peddled large quantities of powder and crack cocaine throughout Rockland County.
The investigation, dubbed ‘Operation No Goode,’ was a joint effort between the FBI, Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, the Rockland County Drug Task Force, and the Haverstraw Police Department. The defendants will be presented in White Plains federal court this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisa Margaret Smith. U.S. District Judge Nelson S. Roman has been assigned to the case.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, led by Preet Bharara, praised the joint effort in a statement. ‘The residents of our communities are entitled to live and work free from the ills of narcotics trafficking. Our joint effort with the FBI, Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, the Rockland County Drug Task Force, and Haverstraw Police Department brings us closer to that goal.’
