A brazen attempt to steal pain medication from a Port St. Lucie pharmacy ended in a 36-month prison sentence for a 48-year-old woman.
Jennifer Scee, of St. Lucie County, Florida, was sentenced on February 15 for her role in the attempted Hobbs Act robbery, which occurred on April 21, 2023.
According to investigators, Scee entered the pharmacy and demanded Dilaudid, a brand name for hydromorphone, an opioid. When the associate asked Scee for her prescription, she displayed a weapon while continuing to demand the medication.
When the associate told Scee that she did not have any Dilaudid, Scee jumped over the counter and pointed the weapon at the associate’s chest. The associate started yelling and banging on the counter, causing Scee to flee the scene.
Video surveillance from the plaza where the pharmacy is located shows Scee wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, black leggings, a black hat covering, and a surgical mask covering her face entering and fleeing the pharmacy on foot.
Law enforcement officers obtained surveillance footage showing a 2001-2005 Honda Civic Coupe with a sunroof and dark tinted windows pulling into the parking lot at the nearby plaza shortly before the robbery and leaving the parking lot shortly after the robbery.
Later, law enforcement arrested Scee at her residence in Port St. Lucie.
The case was investigated by the FBI Miami and the Port St. Lucie Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. Porter prosecuted the case.
The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks.
This case stems from Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
