Gunpoint Robbery Foiled at Maplewood Credit Union
A brazen attempt at robbery at a Maplewood credit union has ended in failure after the suspect was caught and charged. Jeron Marvin Lee Davis, 29, of Lakeville, pleaded guilty to attempting to rob the credit union at gunpoint.
According to court documents, on February 9, 2023, Davis waited outside in a black Chevrolet sedan until the credit union’s manager closed the credit union and walked to his vehicle in the parking lot. Davis approached the manager’s vehicle, pointed a pistol-grip assault rifle at him, and directed him to exit the vehicle.
Davis forced the manager at gunpoint to re-enter the credit union and access the vault. The manager explained to Davis that vault access required two employees. Davis threatened to kill the manager but eventually accepted the explanation. Davis stole the manager’s wallet and fled the scene in the black Chevrolet sedan.
The attempted robbery was the result of a thorough investigation conducted by the FBI and the Maplewood Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jordan L. Sing is prosecuting the case.
Jeron Marvin Lee Davis will face sentencing at a later date for his role in the attempted bank robbery. The full extent of the sentence has yet to be determined.
The brazen act of attempted robbery serves as a reminder of the dangers that exist in our community. The Grimy Times will continue to cover this story as more information becomes available.
The Maplewood credit union has released a statement confirming that the attempted robbery occurred, but declined to comment further. The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released.
