An East St. Louis man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Jerrod Jones, 27, of East St. Louis, Illinois, was sentenced in federal district court in East St. Louis to 10 years in federal prison, 3 years’ supervised release, a $100 special assessment, and a fine of $500, following his plea of guilty on January 14, 2015, for the crime of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
The sentencing stemmed from charges related to an incident that occurred on May 22, 2013, in East St. Louis, Illinois, when law enforcement agents went to Jones’ home to execute a state arrest warrant for a separate case. When the agents executed the warrant, they found a fully loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
Jones was previously convicted of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance on February 12, 2007, in St. Clair County. He was on parole when arrested on the charges for which he was sentenced today.
The case was investigated by members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen B. Clark.
