Armed Robbers Sentenced to Over 115 Years in Federal Prison
DALLAS, TX – In a shocking turn of events, two convicted felons from the Dallas area have been sentenced to more than 115 years in federal prison for their roles in a string of armed robberies that terrorized the community in early 2014.
Jesse Lee Bell, 33, of Duncanville, Texas, and Deundrae Lyndell Miller, 24, of Mesquite, Texas, were each convicted by a federal jury in July 2015 on an array of federal charges stemming from their armed robberies of several fast-food restaurants in the Dallas area.
The defendants committed a series of brazen armed robberies at the following locations:
- Whataburger, 501 E. Highway 67, Duncanville (June 2, 2014)
- Whataburger, 961 W. Beltline Rd., DeSoto (June 4, 2014)
- Whataburger, 3200 N. Town East Blvd., Mesquite (June 7, 2014)
- Jack-In-The-Box, 1020 W. Davis, Dallas (June 19, 2014)
- Whataburger, 2943 N. Galloway Avenue, Mesquite (June 24, 2014)
Each defendant was convicted on four counts of interference with commerce by robbery, one count of attempted interference with commerce by robbery, five counts of using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On January 29, 2021, U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey sentenced each defendant to serve a total of 1384 months in federal prison and pay more than $8000 in restitution. This brings the total sentence to over 115 years in federal prison for each defendant.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Duncanville, DeSoto, Mesquite, and Dallas Police Departments investigated the case.
Deputy Criminal Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Miller and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrew Wirmani and John Kull prosecuted the case.
