WICHITA, KANSAS – In a disturbing revelation, a federal grand jury in Wichita indicted 50-year-old Jimmy Lynn, a Wichita resident, on charges of producing, distributing, and possessing child pornography.
According to court documents, Lynn allegedly used a young child to create sexually explicit images, which he then distributed to others. The investigation was led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), and the Wichita Police Department.
The charges against Lynn include one count of sexual exploitation of a child – production of child pornography, three counts of distribution of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart is prosecuting the case.
Lynn’s indictment is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. This initiative brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
In related news, two other Wichita residents, Matthew Albretch and Brian Shrou, were also indicted on separate charges. Albretch, 31, was indicted on two counts of aggravated identity theft, and Shrou, 56, was indicted on one count of failure to register as a sex offender. These cases are being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Marshal Service, respectively.
The cases highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat crimes against children and protect the vulnerable.
