A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his involvement in two drug-related homicides that shook the community in 2014 and 2016.
Joe Moreland Edger, 43, was found guilty of conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking and being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The crimes took place on December 16, 2014, and January 15, 2016.
According to court documents, Edger was an associate of known drug-dealer Dwane Taylor. Taylor had been robbed of drugs and money in late 2014 and sought retaliation. Edger assisted Taylor in identifying and locating the victims, as well as transporting Taylor in a vehicle in connection with each murder.
Edger also provided Taylor with the nine-millimeter firearm used by Taylor to commit the murder of each victim. In exchange, Edger received a .22 caliber firearm from Taylor.
The victims were not related, and their names were Erin Davis and Juanita Davis. Taylor was on state parole for a prior murder at the time of the murders.
The case was investigated by the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Taylor’s parole has been revoked by the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole as a result of these crimes.
Edger’s sentencing occurred this morning in front of the Honorable Catherine D. Perry. The harsh sentence reflects the severity of the crimes committed by Edger, and his association with a known drug-dealer.
This case highlights the dangers of drug trafficking and the devastating consequences of violent crime. The community will feel a sense of relief now that justice has been served.
