GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Former Mandeville postal worker Johnny Baham, 53, has been sentenced for stealing credit cards from the mail. In December 2014, Baham, who was employed as a contract letter carrier, pilfered first class mail containing two $75 Master Card gift cards from his mail route.
The brazen theft was uncovered after a federal investigation revealed the extent of Baham’s scheme. According to court records, Baham, a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana, had previously pleaded guilty to stealing the United States mail.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced the sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon. Baham received three years’ probation, $150 in restitution, and a $250 fine.
