Benton Harbor Man Convicted of Methamphetamine Trafficking
In a shocking turn of events, 39-year-old Johnny Jones of Benton Harbor, Michigan was convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. The conviction comes after a three-day jury trial before United States District Court Judge Jon E. DeGuilio.
According to documents filed in this case, Jones and two other individuals from Benton Harbor conspired to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine in the Northern District of Indiana and elsewhere between May and August, 2016. The other two defendants named in the indictment had previously pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
Jones is currently scheduled to be sentenced on August 9, 2017, at 1:30pm at the United States District Court in South Bend.
Assistant United States Attorney Joel Gabrielse is handling the case, which was the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, St. Joseph County Police Department, and Benton Harbor Police.
