A 20-year-old Tucson man has been sentenced to 180 months in prison for his role in a large-scale cocaine and fentanyl trafficking operation in Indiana.
Eduardo A. Arguelles, Jr., was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Holly A. Brady on his plea of guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin, maintaining a drug-involved premises and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The investigation, led by the Drug Enforcement Administration with the assistance of the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, revealed that Arguelles was involved in a significant cocaine trafficking operation. Authorities executed search warrants on a Fort Wayne address and a storage locker Arguelles was renting in September 2021.
During the search, authorities found approximately one pound of fentanyl pills and 100 grams of heroin, along with guns, cash, and an apparent drug ledger in the home. In the storage unit, law enforcement recovered approximately six kilograms of cocaine.
According to documents in the case, Arguelles’s storage unit was used as a hub for his cocaine trafficking operation. The evidence collected during the search warrants revealed a significant amount of cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin, as well as evidence of Arguelles’s involvement in the operation.
Arguelles’s sentence includes 180 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sarah E. Nokes.
The investigation and prosecution of Arguelles’s case demonstrate the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat large-scale drug trafficking operations in Indiana and across the country.
