Tampa Felon Charged with Possession of Firearm and Ammunition

Tampa, FL – In a shocking turn of events, Jojuan Lindsey, a 27-year-old convicted felon from St. Petersburg, has been indicted for possession of a firearm and ammunition. This egregious crime has left law enforcement officials reeling and residents wondering what could have been done to prevent it.

According to the indictment, on December 27, 2022, Lindsey possessed a Glock model 42 semiautomatic pistol and six rounds of Hornady 38 Auto ammunition. This is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who have previously demonstrated a disregard for the law.

Lindsey’s rap sheet is a damning indictment of his character. He has previously been convicted of six felonies, including battery of a law enforcement officer, burglary, fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer, and three separate convictions for sale or delivery of heroin. As a previously convicted felon, Lindsey is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the St. Petersburg Police Department worked tirelessly to bring Lindsey to justice. Their dedication and perseverance are a testament to the commitment of law enforcement officials to keeping our communities safe.

Assistant United States Attorney Samantha Newman will be prosecuting the case, while Assistant United States Attorney Suzanne Nebesky will handle the forfeiture. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in our neighborhoods.

An indictment is merely a formal charge, and every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, in this case, the evidence against Lindsey is overwhelming, and it is likely that he will face the full weight of the law.

As we continue to grapple with the issue of gun violence in our communities, it is essential that we hold individuals like Lindsey accountable for their actions. By doing so, we can work towards creating safer neighborhoods for everyone.
