A Manchester man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a brazen bank robbery and an attempted convenience store robbery, federal authorities announced.

Jonathan Faucher, 39, of Manchester, New Hampshire, pleaded guilty to attempting to rob a 7-Eleven on Maple Street in Manchester and robbing a TD Bank branch on Franklin Street in Manchester on October 3, 2016.

According to court documents, Faucher entered the 7-Eleven shortly after midnight on September 28, 2016, and brandished a box-cutter, demanding cash from the clerk. However, the clerk responded by brandishing a pizza cutter, causing Faucher to flee the scene without any money.

Just a few days later, Faucher robbed the TD Bank branch, handing a note to a bank teller demanding money and claiming he had a gun. The teller handed over $600, and Faucher fled on foot. However, Manchester police apprehended him just a few blocks from the scene of the crime.

The case was investigated by the Manchester Police Department, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Shane Kelbley prosecuted the case.
