Jonathan Young, Firearm Possession, Pennsylvania 2022

PITTSBURGH, PA – A 35-year-old Pittsburgh resident has been charged with violating various federal firearms laws, announced United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung today.

The two-count Superseding Indictment, returned on November 1, 2022, named Jonathan Young as the sole defendant.

According to the Superseding Indictment, on February 16, 2022, Young knowingly possessed a firearm and ammunition after having been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.

The Superseding Indictment further alleges that on the same date, Young possessed a machinegun.

Young, a resident of the City’s Garfield neighborhood, faces a maximum total sentence of not more than 10 years in prison, a fine of not more than $500,000, or both.

The law provides that the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Katherine C. Jordan is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the Superseding Indictment in this case.

A superseding indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
