Firearms Heist Leaves Community in Shock

A shocking crime has shaken the small town of Hudson Falls, New York, after 43-year-old Jonathon Combs pleaded guilty to stealing 32 firearms from Calamity Jane’s Firearms and Fine Shoes, a federally licensed firearms dealer, in October 2022.

According to authorities, Combs, along with a co-conspirator, broke into the store using a sledgehammer on the second occasion, stealing 31 semi-automatic pistols. The stolen firearms were then exchanged for a supply of cocaine.

The investigation, led by the New York State Police, ATF, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Washington County District Attorney’s Office, uncovered a complex web of crime involving multiple individuals.

Combs faces a minimum of 5 years and up to life in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of post-imprisonment supervised release of up to 5 years when he is sentenced by United States District Judge Anne M. Nardacci.

Two other defendants, Martin Taft and Kwahpreme Mitchell, remain charged in the case and face similar penalties. However, they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The case serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of crime and the importance of community vigilance in preventing such incidents.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, led by Carla B. Freedman, has vowed to continue pursuing those who engage in illicit activities, ensuring justice is served and the community is protected.
