SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Jesse Lee Talley, 33, of Joplin, has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison without parole for his role in distributing and receiving child pornography over the Internet.
The grim revelation came as United States Attorney Tammy Dickinson announced the severe punishment, underscoring the government’s commitment to protect children from sexual exploitation. Talley was found guilty after agents identified him through a peer-to-peer file-sharing program that allowed him to transmit videos of child pornography across the web.
On October 21, 2014, Talley pleaded guilty to charges brought against him by Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Kelleher. The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crime Task Force, along with the FBI, conducted a thorough investigation that culminated in a search warrant at Talley’s residence. During this raid, they seized his computer, cell phone, and multiple CDs filled with graphic child pornography material.
United States District Judge M. Douglas Harpool presided over the sentencing hearing. This case is one of many being prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative by the Department of Justice that began in 2006 to combat the escalating issue of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
