On June 11, 2013, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland unsealed a federal indictment against Jorge Luis Quintero, a 32-year-old Maryland resident, charging him with multiple violent crimes.
Quintero, who had previously been deported from the United States, was accused of being involved in a violent gang that was responsible for a string of armed robberies and shootings in the Baltimore area.
The indictment, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, charged Quintero with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of robbery, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, Quintero was a key member of the violent gang and was involved in several armed robberies, including a robbery at a convenience store in Baltimore where a clerk was shot and seriously injured.
Quintero was arrested in June 2013, after a multi-agency investigation by the FBI, the Baltimore Police Department, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) identified him as a suspect in the armed robberies.
In October 2013, Quintero pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He also faced deportation proceedings due to his previous deportation from the United States.
