BOSTON — José De La Rosa Rosario, a 50-year-old man from the Dominican Republic, pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry of a deported alien in federal court in Boston, Massachusetts.
De La Rosa Rosario entered the United States in 2006 through Puerto Rico using false identification. In 2011, he was convicted of federal conspiracy and cocaine distribution charges. Following completion of his federal sentence, in July 2018, De La Rosa Rosario was removed from the United States and deported to the Dominican Republic pursuant to a court order.
However, De La Rosa Rosario illegally reentered the United States without permission at an unknown time and place. In September 2024, he was arrested on new state drug charges and later detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
A copy of his fingerprint from his removal document was compared to his fingerprint when he entered federal custody in September 2024, and they were identical to each other.
The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
De La Rosa Rosario is scheduled to be sentenced on March 14, 2025 by U.S. District Court Chief Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV.
United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, made the announcement today.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Nagelberg of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
