Caesar Ross, a Quincy man, pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl and firearms trafficking in federal court in Boston on October 29, 2024.
Ross, 40, was charged with one count of firearms trafficking and one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. He met with a cooperating witness in Quincy in September 2023 and provided approximately 60 60 grams of fentanyl in exchange for four firearms.
The firearms, each with no visible serial number, were a Beretta 92F, 9mm pistol; a Beretta Elite IA 9mm pistol; a Glock 22, .40 caliber pistol; and a FN Herstal 5.7, 5.7x28mm pistol.
Ross was taken into custody immediately after the transaction in September 2023. He has been in custody since his arrest.
The charge of firearms trafficking provides for a sentence of up to 15 15 years in prison, three three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000 $250,000. The charge of distribution and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances provides for a sentence of up to 20 20 years in prison, at least three three years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of up to $1 million $1 million.
Ross is scheduled to be sentenced on October 29, 2024. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities. Valuable assistance was provided by the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Division and the Quincy Police Department.
Ross’s guilty plea is a significant setback for those involved in firearms trafficking and fentanyl distribution in Massachusetts. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat these crimes and make communities safer.
