Jose Guadalupe Ramos-Solano Dies in ICE Custody, California 2026

LOS ANGELES — Jose Guadalupe Ramos-Solano, a 36-year-old Mexican national, passed away on March 25, 2026, at 9:29 p.m. while in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center.

Ramos-Solano was being held at the Adelanto detention center for being an illegal alien in the United States. He was previously convicted of possession of a controlled substance and theft of personal property. According to ICE, Ramos-Solano was arrested by the Redondo Beach Police Department on May 6, 2025, and was convicted by the Superior Court of Los Angeles on August 21, 2025.

On February 23, 2026, ICE arrested Ramos-Solano during a targeted law enforcement operation in Torrance, California. He was transferred to the Adelanto detention center and received a complete health and physical evaluation during his intake screening on February 24. ICE identified several medical issues, including diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension.

Despite receiving constant medical care, including daily medication to treat his illnesses, Ramos-Solano was found unconscious and unresponsive in his bunk by Adelanto security staff on March 25, 2026. Onsite medical staff initiated life-saving measures, including CPR, and emergency services were called. Ramos-Solano was transported to the Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville, California, where he was pronounced deceased.

ICE has notified the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the DHS Office of Inspector General, and the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility, as well as the Mexican consulate, which is assisting in locating his next of kin or designated contact.

Comprehensive medical care is provided from the moment individuals arrive and throughout their stay. All people in ICE custody receive medical, dental, and mental health intake screenings within 12 hours of arriving at each detention facility.
