A multi-million dollar marijuana ring has been dismantled in Pennsylvania, with one of its key players facing a lengthy prison sentence.
Susquehanna Township man Jose Laboy, 40, was sentenced to 9 years in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson for his role in a multi-million dollar marijuana ring.
According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Laboy previously entered a guilty plea to being a part of a group that received marijuana shipped from sources in California and to possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
The drug trafficking group operated out of Fastlane Auto Sales located on Paxton Street in Harrisburg, shipping hundreds of parcels full of marijuana from California to Harrisburg and mailing cash back to California.
Laboy was found responsible for trafficking between 100 and 400 kilograms of marijuana from 2017 to May 2020 and was not held responsible for the violence associated with the Harrisburg drug trafficking group.
Co-defendants Christopher Texidor, William Kuduk, Justin Laboy, Julio Arellano, Jonathan Cobaugh, and Jamie Valenzuela are also awaiting sentencing for their roles in the marijuana ring.
The cases were investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Susquehanna Township Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Consiglio prosecuting the cases.
Laboy’s 9-year prison sentence is a significant blow to the marijuana ring, which has been dismantled as a result of the investigation and prosecution.
