SCRANTON – In a shocking case of disregard for the law, Jose Rafael Polo-Sanchez, a 43-year-old Dominican Republic national, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for illegal reentry in Pennsylvania.
According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Polo-Sanchez was removed from the United States on December 3, 2019. However, he brazenly reentered the country on an unknown date and at an unknown location without first obtaining legal permission.
This egregious offense came to light on October 31, 2024, when Polo-Sanchez was found in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
Polo-Sanchez’s actions are a stark reminder of the severity of the issue of illegal immigration and the importance of upholding the rule of law.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
This case is a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors in their pursuit of justice.
Assistant United States Attorney Tatum Wilson is prosecuting the case, marking another victory in the fight against illegal immigration.
