A Denver man has been indicted for pointing a laser pointer at a police helicopter.
DENVER—Josefat Alejandro Marmolejo-Lucio, age 27, of Denver, has been charged with aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft.
According to the indictment, on October 5, 2023, Marmolejo-Lucio knowingly aimed the beam of a laser pointer at a helicopter, ‘Air 1,’ operated by the Denver Police Department.
Marmolejo-Lucio had his initial appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Scott T. Varholak on January 24, 2024.
This case is being investigated by the FBI. Assistant United States Attorney Cyrus Chung is handling the prosecution.
The charge in the indictment is an allegation and Marmolejo-Lucio is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
