Gun Possession Lands Sacramento Man in Prison
Joseph Allen Davis, a 20-year-old from Sacramento, is facing the consequences of his actions after being sentenced to 30 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On April 12, 2025, the city of Davis was shaken by a shooting incident at Rainbow City Park that left three people injured. An investigation was launched, and authorities discovered that Joseph Allen Davis was one of the shooters. A search of his apartment uncovered a short-barrel AR-15-style pistol loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition.
This is not Davis’s first run-in with the law. He has previously been convicted of a felony gun possession offense, making him prohibited from possessing any firearms and ammunition. The discovery of the gun in his possession led to the current charges.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Davis Police Department, the Sacramento Police Department, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Lee prosecuted the case.
The U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley handed down the sentence, which is part of the nationwide Operation Take Back America initiative. This operation aims to combat violent crime and protect communities from perpetrators. The operation is a key component of the government’s efforts to address public safety concerns.
In this case, Joseph Allen Davis’s actions had serious consequences, resulting in his conviction and prison sentence. The community can take solace in knowing that those who commit violent crimes will be held accountable.
