A resident of Washington, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal laws.

The three-count indictment named Joseph Valentino Monroe, 27, as the sole defendant in a case that involved stealing firearms and cash from a local business.

According to the indictment, Monroe took eight firearms and approximately $1,230 in cash from Route 19 EZ-Cash LLC on February 28, 2015. The pawn shop is located at 110 Highland Avenue in Washington, Pa., 15301.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Pittsburgh announced the indictment, which carries a minimum sentence of not less than seven years and a maximum of life in prison, along with a fine of $250,000, or both.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Conor Lamb is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government, while the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

Monroe is currently facing the charges, and an indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
