Buffalo Man Sentenced to 72 Months for Receiving Child Pornography
BUFFALO, NY – In a shocking turn of events, Joshua Zak, 41, of Buffalo, NY, has been sentenced to 72 months in prison for receiving child pornography. U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo handed down the sentence, dealing a devastating blow to the defendant and his victims.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Lamarque, who handled the case, Federal Agents searched Zak’s residence in September 2015 after determining he had accessed a site on the dark web dedicated to the exploitation of children. Agents seized various electronics, and a forensic examination revealed that the defendant was in possession of over 100,000 images and videos of child pornography.
The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Gary Loeffert, uncovered a disturbing pattern of behavior by Zak. In March 2017, he was again found in possession of over 500 images of child pornography, despite being released on bail. This revelation only added to the severity of the charges against him.
U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced the sentencing, stating that the actions of Joshua Zak were ‘heinous and reprehensible.’ The sentence is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies to protect our children from predators like Zak.
The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of the dark web and the importance of vigilance in the fight against child exploitation. As we continue to push for justice in these heinous crimes, we must also acknowledge the trauma and suffering inflicted on the victims and their families.
Joshua Zak’s sentence serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar behavior. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as more information becomes available.
