ALBUQUERQUE – A man is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing another man outside a grocery store in Shiprock, New Mexico.
A federal complaint alleges that Josiah Bodie, 22, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, approached a victim outside a grocery store in Shiprock on November 12, 2024, and initiated a physical altercation, during which he stabbed the victim with a knife.
Navajo Nation Police Department officers responded to reports of the stabbing and found the victim with an apparent stab wound. Bodie was located nearby with a knife that had brass knuckles on the handle, according to the complaint.
If convicted on the current charges, Bodie faces 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He appeared before a federal judge today and will remain on conditions of release pending trial, which has not been scheduled.
The Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office investigated the case with the assistance of the Navajo Nation Police Department and the Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Caitlin L. Dillon is prosecuting the case.
U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, made the announcement today.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
