Juan Manuel Bedolla-Lopez, Illegal Reentry, Pennsylvania 2024

PHILADELPHIA — Juan Manuel Bedolla-Lopez, 33, of Toughkenamon, Pennsylvania, is back in federal crosshairs, charged with illegally reentering the United States after being deported five times — a brazen pattern of defiance that federal prosecutors are vowing to punish to the fullest extent of the law.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Bedolla-Lopez, a native and citizen of Mexico, with illegal reentry after deportation. According to court documents, he was formally removed from the U.S. on December 20, 2010, and then again on May 6, 2011, May 12, 2011, May 25, 2011, and March 19, 2012. Despite those repeated expulsions, he allegedly crossed back into the country without authorization following his final deportation.

Each of the prior removals underscores a persistent pattern: Bedolla-Lopez has repeatedly flouted U.S. immigration law. Federal authorities stress that illegal reentry is not a minor infraction — it is a felony punishable by up to two years in federal prison. If convicted, Bedolla-Lopez could face significant jail time, in addition to another mandatory removal.

“The United States of America is a nation of laws, including laws about how people can enter the country,” said U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain. “This man has allegedly been removed from the United States five times, and yet he continues to reenter illegally and defy our laws. This blatant flouting of our nation’s immigration laws will not be tolerated.”

The investigation was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), the agency tasked with identifying, detaining, and deporting individuals who violate U.S. immigration statutes. The case is now being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Mark T. Sendek, who is seeking accountability under federal criminal code.

An indictment is not a conviction. Juan Manuel Bedolla-Lopez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains under active prosecution in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
