Juan Ruiz, a 30-year-old El Salvadorian national, has been convicted and sentenced for unlawful reentry into the United States after three prior deportations. Ruiz pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Samantha D. Elliott to time served, which amounts to two months.
Ruiz, who was unlawfully residing in Manchester, has a history of illegally entering the United States. He was previously deported on three separate occasions: June 12, 2016, May 18, 2017, and October 14, 2021. His most recent reentry into the country ultimately led to his arrest and conviction.
The Manchester Police Department played a crucial role in Ruiz’s arrest. On the evening of April 22, 2025, law enforcement responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at Ruiz’s apartment. He was subsequently arrested for simple assault. After discovering Ruiz’s immigration status, the authorities referred him to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
ICE led the investigation into Ruiz’s case, with valuable assistance provided by the Manchester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander S. Chen prosecuted the case, which is part of Operation Take Back America. This nationwide initiative aims to combat illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect communities from violent crime.
