Juan Sebastian Chavez, 26, Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Child Pornography
A Fort Lauderdale man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for producing and possessing child pornography. Juan Sebastian Chavez, 26, was sentenced on April 26, 2024 by United States District Judge Kenneth A. Marra.
Chavez was convicted of one count of possession of child pornography, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252(a)(4)(B), and one count of production of child pornography, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2251(a) and 2251(e).
According to court documents, beginning in April 2014, through September 2014, Chavez persuaded, induced, enticed and coerced a minor female child to engage in sexually explicit conduct. Chavez captured images of the sexually explicit conduct with his cellular telephone. Chavez also possessed images and videos of child pornography on his computers.
Benjamin G. Greenberg, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, commended the investigative efforts of HSI-ICE and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in this matter. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jodi L. Anton and Francis Viamontes.
