Julian Darnell Black, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Iowa 2022

A Davenport man has been sentenced to 150 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.

Julian Darnell Black, 28, was found guilty of Possession with Intent to Distribute Five Grams or More of Methamphetamine and Carrying a Firearm During and in Relation to a Drug Trafficking Crime.

The investigation into Black’s activities began when law enforcement responded to a domestic incident in Davenport, Iowa. During a search of Black, authorities seized two baggies containing methamphetamine and a loaded Draco rifle.

Black had multiple state warrants outstanding at the time of his arrest. He pleaded guilty to the charges on January 24, 2022, and was subsequently sentenced to 150 months in prison.

Black was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release to follow his prison term and immediately pay a $200 Special Assessment to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

This case was investigated by the Davenport Police Department and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making communities safer.

U.S. Attorney Richard D. Westphal announced the sentencing, which marked a significant victory in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking in the region.
