Pocahontas County Man Admits to Unlawful Possession of Firearms
ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – A Pocahontas County man has admitted to unlawful possession of firearms, announced Acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard.
Julian N. Waddell, 37, pleaded guilty to two counts of ‘Unlawful Possession of a Firearm’ in federal court. He admitted to possessing three revolvers, a shotgun, and a semi-automatic rifle in April and July 2019 in Pocahontas County.
According to the indictment, Waddell is a person who is not permitted to have a firearm because of a prior conviction.
Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Waddell is facing up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for each of the charges. The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher L. Bauer is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Mountain Region Drug Task Force investigated the case.
U.S. Magistrate Michael Aloi presided over the proceedings.
