Arlen Storm, Election Day Fraud Watch, Washington, 2014

Acting United States Attorney Annette L. Hayes has announced a stern watch on the upcoming November 4, 2014 general elections in Washington’s Western District, appointing Assistant United States Attorney Arlen Storm as the District Election Officer (DEO). Storm will spearhead the Justice Department’s nationwide Election Day Program, tasked with overseeing the district’s response to complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses.

‘Every citizen must be able to vote without interference or discrimination, knowing their vote is secure,’ Hayes emphasized. The DEO’s presence ensures that any attempts at electoral corruption are met with swift action to protect the integrity of the process.

In a bid to ensure complaints reach the right hands, Storm will be on duty through the completion of voting. The public can contact him directly at 206-553-7970 or 253-428-3800. Federal law is robust against voter intimidation, vote buying, altering tallies, and other electoral crimes, providing protections for voters to cast their ballots freely.

The FBI also stands ready with special agents in every field office to receive allegations of election fraud at 206-622-0460. For federal voting rights violations, the Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section can be reached by phone at 1-800-253-3931, fax at (202) 307-3961, or via email at voting.section@usdoj.gov.

Hayes concluded, ‘Ensuring free and fair elections is crucial. Anyone with information about discrimination or fraud should report it immediately to my office, the FBI, or the Civil Rights Division.’
