Justin Gebo, Illegal Firearm Possession, New Hampshire 2024

CONCORD – Justin Gebo, a former Belmont resident, has been sentenced to federal prison for illegal firearm possession, marking another blow to the illegal gun trade. The 29-year-old was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Paul P. Barbadoro to 33 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release.

Gebo’s criminal activities began when he unlawfully received a Ceska Zrojovka (“CZ”) model Scorpion EVO 3, S2, 9x19mm short-barreled rifle on January 1, 2023, while under felony indictment. The firearm was recovered in connection with a homicide investigation on June 3, 2023, in Franklin, New Hampshire.

The sentence imposed by the court highlights the severe consequences for prohibited persons who possess firearms. U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young emphasized the dangers of felons with guns, stating that Gebo’s illegal receipt and possession of the firearm were a significant step in its eventual use to commit heinous crimes.

According to charging documents, Gebo also possessed a 17 Design and Manufacturing model 17DM-15 multicaliber rifle on February 3, 2023. This was after his conviction for a crime punishable by imprisonment exceeding one year. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) led the investigation, with valuable assistance from the New Hampshire State Police and the Laconia Police Department.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence across all levels of law enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey W.R. Ward is prosecuting this case, further strengthening the initiative’s commitment to community safety.

The sentencing of Justin Gebo serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illegal firearm possession and the ongoing efforts of local and federal law enforcement to combat gun-related crime in New Hampshire.
