Buffalo, NY – In a shocking turn of events, Justin Griffin, 38, of Cheektowaga, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, cocaine. The charges were brought forth by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Cheektowaga Police Department.
The investigation, which lasted from August to September 2016, revealed that Griffin sold cocaine to a confidential source on four separate occasions. The sales were facilitated through the use of three cellphones, one of which matched the phone number used by Griffin to set up the undercover transactions.
On September 21, 2016, DEA agents executed a search warrant at 2067 Broadway Avenue (upper) in the Town of Cheektowaga. Griffin was found inside the apartment, in possession of the three cellphones and a plastic bag with cocaine residue.
The maximum penalty for the charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine. Griffin’s sentencing is scheduled for June 21, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. before Judge William M. Skretny.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Division, and the Cheektowaga Police Department, under the direction of Chief David Zack.
Griffin’s guilty plea is a significant blow to the community, as it highlights the ongoing struggle with cocaine distribution in the area. The investigation and subsequent plea deal are a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies in the region.
