MEMPHIS, TN – In a superseding indictment, 19-year-old Kaderion Stokes, of Memphis, has been charged with possession of a gun with an attached machine-gun conversion device. Stokes was previously charged with stealing guns from a federally licensed firearms dealer and possession of stolen firearms.
United States Attorney Kevin G. Ritz announced the charges against Stokes and eight other individuals, who are accused of various federal gun and violent crimes in West Tennessee. Ritz stated that reducing violent crime in Memphis is a top priority for his office and that prosecutors will continue to work with law enforcement partners to bring to justice those who violate federal firearm laws.
The defendants, who range in age from 19 to 32, are accused of various crimes, including possession of machine-gun conversion devices, armed carjacking, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The charges and allegations contained in the indictments are merely accusations of criminal conduct, not evidence.
Stokes is not the only defendant to be charged with possession of a machine-gun conversion device. Keelon Shields, 28, was indicted on one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possessing a gun with an attached machine-gun conversion device. Jamario Bobo, 21, and Jarvis Clayborn, 25, were also indicted on one count of possessing a gun with an attached machine-gun conversion device.
The cases are being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force; the Project Safe Neighborhoods Gun Task Force; and the Memphis Police Department. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law. If convicted, each defendant’s sentence will be determined by the Court after review of the factors unique to the case.
