Karlos Alexander Wilson, Jr., Armed Robbery, Florida 2017

A pair of armed robbers, one of whom has been identified as Karlos Alexander Wilson, Jr., struck a Family Dollar store in Tampa, Florida, stealing a total of $3,997.

On January 14, 2017, Wilson, 24, of Pinellas Park, and a co-conspirator committed an armed robbery at a Family Dollar Store in Tampa, stealing approximately $3,300 from the store.

On June 3, 2017, Wilson and the co-conspirator committed another armed robbery at a Family Dollar Store in Hillsborough County, stealing approximately $685 from the store.

Forensic analysis of DNA from the crime scene led to Wilson’s arrest.

Wilson pleaded guilty to two counts of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

He faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 32 years, up to life, in federal prison.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Tampa Police Department, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Christopher F. Murray.

This case is another example of the Department of Justice’s commitment to reducing violent crime in communities through its ‘Project Safe Neighborhoods’ Program.

The program involves a comprehensive approach to public safety, including investigating and prosecuting crimes, along with prevention and reentry efforts.
