MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Kasem Damone Humphrey, 37, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was sentenced to four years of probation for distributing heroin, according to United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld.
Humphrey pleaded guilty to one count of ‘Distribution of Heroin’ in September 2021 in connection with heroin distribution in October 2017 in Jefferson County.
The defendant admitted to distributing heroin in October 2017 in Jefferson County. Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy D. Helman prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
The Eastern Panhandle Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case. U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the court proceedings.
Humphrey’s sentence reflects a four-year period of supervised release. The case number for the prosecution is 1:21-cr-00112.
This case is part of the HIDTA-funded initiative to combat the opioid crisis. Humphrey’s conviction and sentencing serve as a reminder of the consequences of distributing heroin in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute those involved in the distribution of heroin and other dangerous substances.
