A Farmington man who threatened to kill public officials, including members of Congress, was sentenced to 25 months in prison, time already served, and three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.
Kasey Charles Haworth, 30, made the threats on the social media platform X in October 2023, including one stating ‘Anyone working in law enforcement in the USA that tries to shoot me will be killed by me, if you see me trying to take back my government don’t try to stop me or you will be the one who dies and thats it!’
Haworth was arrested on November 2, 2023, and has been detained since his arrest. On October 20, 2025, he pleaded guilty to making threatening communications.
As part of his supervised release, Judge Janet C. Hall ordered Haworth to continue mental health treatment, not have any contact with victims, and allow his electronic devices to be monitored by the U.S. Probation Office.
The matter was investigated by the U.S. Capitol Police with the assistance of the U.S. Secret Service and the Farmington Police Department.
Haworth’s threats were made on the social media platform X, where he wrote a series of posts explicitly threatening to kill and maim various public officials, including two members of Congress. The U.S. Capitol Police reviewed these posts and determined that Haworth was the user of the X account.
On October 24, 2023, the U.S. Secret Service and Farmington Police interviewed Haworth at his residence and confirmed that he had written the posts. Two days later, Haworth made additional threatening X posts.
Haworth is currently in custody, having been arrested on November 2, 2023. His case is a reminder of the importance of taking threats against public officials seriously and the consequences of making such threats.
